This weather system, which recorded winds of up to 120 miles per hour as of 6:00 AM GMT, is now shifting northwest in the Caribbean Sea and is anticipated to reach land by early next week, based on data from hurricane specialists.

Locals are being instructed to secure their homes with sandbags and plywood sheets, and to gather basic necessities.

Warnings are also ongoing for regions of the neighboring country encompassing the primary urban center, the neighboring country and Cuba's eastern region, where Melissa is expected to bring comparable impacts by the middle portion of the coming week.
